MCE Student Survey #1: My thoughts about school

To be able to collect baseline data regarding the need to have an online platform that is accessible to students so they can learn away from the class, it was important to have a survey for the students to complete that can help us to find out what the barriers are to their learning.
I accessed a whanau survey used in our RCCoL for Students With Additional Needs to help develop a short survey to be used.


Once I had established the main questions, I then decided that Microsoft Forms would be a good platform to use for sharing as I liked the simplicity of the program. For confidentiality purposes, the students will only share their Student Participation Number (SPN). 
The survey is now ready to be shared with the targeted group of students. This will be done midterm 1 of 2020, once targeted students have been identified.

October was another busy month with collaboration among peers. It wasn't that I was busy with the Project Group, but more so with Ceylan regarding out Project. I was also busy with discussion regarding the website with my husband, Cory, who is my IT guru and go-to person.  Working with Cory has been really good. He knows what I want and what is needed. He also knows that we have limited to no budget for this project and therefore can point me in the right direction of platforms and hosts that would be best suited to our needs.  My Project Group did meet this past month, and again it was great to hear where they are all up to regarding our assignments. Deliverable #2 - Website Design/Mockup 2D Sketches

For the past couple of weeks, I have been thinking about and drafting the layout of the website. This hasn't been an easy task and many changes have occurred. I initially started by jumping straight into the website and playing around with templates. But this lead to confusion and uncertainty of what I was doing. I spoke to an IT specialist who has done some websites in his time. He offered to assist with coming up with the mockup design. All I had to do was provide some 2D sketches and have a sit down meeting with him to explain what I was actually after. The brief I have for him is as follows: - Easy to update - Has member sections for Students and Teachers - Is mobile ready and friendly - Feedback and contact can be made within the site - Humber, simple layout - Has keyword searches - Contains a resource gallery - Easy to navigate - Not too busy looking As I work through this process, the ideas above will change or have more requirements added.
