Deliverable #2 - Anecdotal Notes: Website Design/Mockup 2D Sketches



21 October 2019:

Cory has begun the construction of the website. The home page is complete, we have purchased the domain. Now time to start putting resources into it.

A couple of things we need to look at are:
- the Maori name for the Hub - confirmation is required of the correct term being used.
- copyright of the images used.
- the picture of the storehouse is being worked on by a graphic design person to cut it from the photo and make it stand alone without a backdrop, therefore making it our property.
- continuing to clean up the interface and back pages where the resources are stored.






14 October 2019:

To date, I have looked at using WordPress but have run into issues with formatting as the free designs aren't giving formats of what is liked.

I am also finding this very time consuming to develop and get sorted. I think I am in need of getting an expert in for support although funding could be a problem.

I have spoken with my husband, Cory, and he has offered to take this part on. He is looking at Google Sites and WordPress. He will put together the mock-up of the site following the 2D sketches and then present it to me. It will be a work in progress where he will be able to make changes as needed without the cost.

For the past couple of weeks, I have been thinking about and drafting the layout of the website. This hasn't been an easy task and many changes have occurred. I initially started by jumping straight into the website and playing around with templates. But this lead to confusion and uncertainty of what I was doing. I spoke to an IT specialist who has done some websites in his time. He offered to assist with coming up with the mockup design. All I had to do was provide some 2D sketches and have a sit down meeting with him to explain what I was actually after. The brief I have for him is as follows: - Easy to update - Has member sections for Students and Teachers - Is mobile ready and friendly - Feedback and contact can be made within the site - Humber, simple layout - Has keyword searches - Contains a resource gallery - Easy to navigate - Not too busy looking As I work through this process, the ideas above will change or have more requirements added. October Evidence of Collaboration

October was another busy month with collaboration among peers. It wasn't that I was busy with the Project Group, but more so with Ceylan regarding out Project. I was also busy with discussion regarding the website with my husband, Cory, who is my IT guru and go-to person.  Working with Cory has been really good. He knows what I want and what is needed. He also knows that we have limited to no budget for this project and therefore can point me in the right direction of platforms and hosts that would be best suited to our needs.  My Project Group did meet this past month, and again it was great to hear where they are all up to regarding our assignments. Deliverable #1 - Design Brief

Today I decided to research into what a Website Design Brief was. I googled a number of sites and sifted through them. To my delight, Website Design Briefs is a quick outline of what a person is wanting as a website. Some templates were very in-depth which lead me to keep the Lean Canvas as my Design Brief. Some other templates lead me down the next path into the Website Design phase. One of the Design Briefs I did like was the Website Brief found on  https://project-brief.casual.pm/  .
